Community Service
At TNCS, we see community service as an important way for our students to develop their full potential and understand their role in our society. Students are offered a wide variety of opportunities for service. Recent projects have included a Bellevue neighborhood cleanup, volunteering at Westminster Canterbury, raising funds for disaster relief, a food drive for the Central Virginia Food Bank, and more. Individual students may also choose to work for various organizations such as the YMCA, the Humane Society, the Children’s Hospital, or any of a number of other non-profits in the area.
All Upper School students are expected to complete 10 hours of volunteer service each year. We find that immersion in a specific and individual effort to support others has a significantly positive impact on the self-confidence of healthy young adults.
