First Annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day

On Tuesday, November 20, just before breaking for Thanksgiving, TNCS celebrated our first ever Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The response exceeded our wildest expectations, with more than 150 family and friends on hand.

The day began with coffee and fellowship with students. After a welcome from Head of School Nancy Foy, where we announced the creation of a new Grandparents Association, grandparents and friends joined their students for two programs. Language Fundamentals Department co-chairs Patti Bowling and Robin Forsyth lead guests through a fun and interactive session about how LF helps our students learn. A panel discussion with Middle School students Mitch Ault and Megan Bolin, and Seniors Reade Stallings and Alex Phillips, gave the student perspective on life at our school.

Upper School families ended the day with Senior Speeches from members of the Class of 2019, and all of our guests were encouraged to stay for tours guided by their students. It was a wonderful start to what will become a new TNCS tradition!
