Next up on our list of new members of the TNCS faculty family!
Becca Carmichael, Middle School English
Mrs. Carmichael grew up in Disputanta, VA, which is a small rural town 45 minutes south of Richmond. As a high school student, she volunteered to assist my peers with special needs and knew from that point she wanted to pursue a career in special education. She attended Radford University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education, specifically for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students grades preK-12. Along her teaching journey in Powhatan County Public Schools, she discovered a passion for helping struggling readers and writers develop language skills. In 2011, she returned to school at VCU to pursue a Master’s Degree in Reading and become a licensed Reading Specialist. After six years of teaching, she is thrilled to put her experience and knowledge to work at TNCS!
In her non-work life, Becca is married to (now colleague) Jason Carmichael, and is the mommy of a precious one year old girl Brooklyn Paige. Their family also includes their four-legged critters, Maggie and Amelia. They are quite an active family, which usually involves training for some sort of race or coaching young athletes. Mrs. Carmichael is currently training for her 7th marathon. Mr. & Mrs. Carmichael both enjoy life on the Northside of Richmond in Ginter Park and love to love our city.
