ALL-SCHOOL NEWS

Parents Night

Remember that Parents Night is Thursday, September 6, beginning in the Gym promptly at 6:30pm. You will have the opportunity to follow your child’s daily schedule and hear from each of their teachers. Parking will be available across the street at Scottish Rite Temple. We will conclude the evening by 9pm. Wear comfortable shoes!

All after school activities (After School Study Hall and Athletic Practices) are cancelled that day. Please pick up your child at 3:30pm so that you may attend Parent’s Night at 6:30pm.

Saber Spotlight

Has your student excelled in activities outside of school? We would like to recognize them in places such as our monthly e-newsletter (coming soon!) and assemblies! Please email us at info@tncs.org to let us know and attach a photo if you have one!

Tech Tip of the Week

When in doubt restart! If your child’s iPad or laptop is acting in an unexpected way, restart. If it won’t do things that it normally does with ease, restart. An important component of the restart is quitting all programs. Do this on an iPad by double clicking the home button and swiping each open app up. On a laptop you want to look at the dock (that strip with app shortcuts on it) and make sure the only app with a dot under it is the blue faced Finder guy, he never gets quit. If an app has a blue dot, simply hold down the control key and click the app icon then scroll to the Quit prompt. It is good rule of thumb to quit everything and restart a minimum once a week.

Spirit Wear Order Deliveries

TNCS spirit wear (including P.E. shirts) from the summer online store was given to students on Thursday, August 30. Hoodies, hats, and visors were backordered and are expected to arrive this week.

Athletic Schedules & Winter Sports Sign-Ups

We’ve had a fantastic preseason for all of our teams. After almost a month of practicing and preparation, regular season competition starts this week. GO SABERS! Daily schedules for each team can be found at www.tncsathletics.org. Please create a FAN ACCOUNT for your child’s team so you can receive alerts of schedule changes.

Saber Sports will be holding Winter Sports Sign-Ups in mid-September. Students will be encouraged to sign-up for basketball, wrestling, or rock climbing for the winter season (mid-November – mid-February).

UPPER SCHOOL NEWS

College Rep Visit: SCAD

On Wednesday, September 5th, our first college representative will visit TNCS. Steve Douglas from Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) will be in Mrs. Harley’s room (Morris Hall, Room 103) during Extra Help. Sophomores and Juniors who are interested in learning more about SCAD and Seniors who are planning to apply to SCAD should plan on attending. There is also a presentation about SCAD’s innovative academic programs, art and design career options, and admission requirements on September 15th at 10am at The Westin on West Broad Street. Click here for more information.

SAT Testing

The next SAT testing dates for Seniors are October 6th and 7th. Students should register using their College Board accounts. The SAT registration fee is $45. The registration deadline is Friday, September 7th. Students are welcome to see Mrs. Harley in Morris Hall, Room 103 for registration help.

9th Grade Late Night

Ninth Grade Late Night is on Friday, September 14th after school until 11pm. Ninth Grade Late Night is a time for students to celebrate the start of their high school years and to bond with new and familiar classmates. We will begin the event by cheering on our Saber athletes at the home volleyball and soccer games. After supporting our student athletes, we’ll gather for a pizza dinner and then start the festivities. Each ninth grade student will play on a team, competing against other ninth graders in a series of hysterical “Minute to Win It” games. After an awards ceremony, we’ll settle down, enjoy some popcorn, and watch a movie. Please encourage your ninth grade student to participate! The success of the event depends on the participation of the ninth grade class. We look forward to celebrating the start of the year with your student! Click here for more details. Permission is needed by September 14 via email to Mrs. Beene.
