Posted by TNCS on Aug 15, 2017

Susie Hudgins joins The New Community family as a Language Fundamentals teacher after teaching in Richmond and Henrico Public schools and over a decade of private tutoring. Susie has a BA in English and Sociology from Kenyon College, and a Master’s in English Education from the University of Virginia. Susie is the mother of 4 sons, two of whom are dyslexic. This inspired her to complete Orton-Gillingham training and homeschool her two dyslexic sons for ten years. Her private tutoring practice has had her working with students from elementary school through high school, covering a range of language learning issues, executive functioning issues, and college essay writing. Susie has been extremely active in the greater Richmond education community, serving on the board of the Sabot School and on the steering committee that led to the creation of Seven Hills Middle School. She remains loyal to Kenyon College, giving of her time on the Alumni Council. Her passions include book club, her family, and needlework. Her youngest son has just finished his first year as a Saber. Susie lives in the city, south of the river, with two dogs, two cats, two goldfish and five chickens.
